AI: brilliant assistant, terrible boss

AI won’t steal your job. But someone who knows how to use AI without embarrassing themselves in court might.

Yes, that happened! A law firm used AI to cite legislation to court. The judge checked. The legislation didn’t exist. The firm sent a second AI-assisted response to explain. It made things worse.

Most AI disasters happen because organisations skip the governance, not because the machine becomes sentient and demands a corner office and shares in the business.

My article covers:

  • AI hallucinations: the real problem is humans who don’t check
  • Data security nightmares when your AI chats go public
  • Dependency risks where your AI provider pulls the plug mid-project
  • New transparency rules are live under the EU AI Act
  • Practical fixes, no PhD or nation-state budget required
